Fútbol Scrimmage Round 2

We had another socccer day yesterday. We started out by teaching drills. Tori and I taught the class the basics of how to shoot and pass the ball. A lot of them were catching on and doing great. After the lessons, the students who wanted to play and Coach Stone started a game of World Cup. Erik was  in goal and we had 6 teams. Stone and I were on a team as Kenya. Our team and Ryan and Gage's team met in the final. It was a showdown between Kenya and Tanzania. After a hard fought battle, Kenya was victorious. It was so much fun. I wish it wouldn't go by so fast. I hope we have another chance to play again before school is out.

Here are some pictures from the soccer playing yesterday:

Mexican League May 26

Sunday I played in another Mexican League game. We were down in the first half 3-2. Second half we exploded. We started coming back with goal after goal. We quickly scored two goals within 15 minutes of the half. It was 3-4, we were winning. They came back quickly after when our keeper accidently misjudged a cornerkick and tapped it in for them. It was 4-4. Later in the half, one of our players dribbled down the sideline and across the end line towards the opponent goal. I was standing at the top of the 18 line. Our player took the shot, it deflected of the keeper's hand. The ball came bouncing to me. I took a volley shot and put it in the back of the net. It was a fun game. The score ended with my team winning 6-4. I had 1 goal and 1 assist.

How to kick/shoot a soccer ball

Here I will post the basic steps of how to correctly strike a soccer ball.

Step 1- Plant your weak foot next to the ball
Step 2- Point the toe of your planted foot toward the direction of your desired shot
Step 3- Bend knees for balance, keep chest up but over your planted foot
Step 4- Shift weight forward to the planted foot
Step 5- Swing shooting leg back for power
Step 5- Bring your shooting foot towards the ball
Step 6- Point toe down and keep ankle locked of shooting foot
Step 7- Maintain control by keeping shooting leg steady
Step 8- Keep chest and knee of shooting leg over the shooting foot to prevent an uncontrolled upward flight of the ball or if wanting to keep the shot on the ground
Step 9- Firmly push shooting foot through ball with power, keep stable balance on the plant foot
Step 10- Strike the center of the ball for control
Step 11- Follow through with the shooting foot

Mexican League

Sunday I got asked to play in a Mexican League game. The game was supposed to start at 10 am. I woke up at 8:30 and recieved a text saying the game was still on. I went to take a shower and checked my phone again, the game was cancelled. So, I went to sleep for about an hour, woke up at 10 am and got another text saying that the game was pushed back until 10:15.. So, I arrived late to the game. However, when i got there, the coach didn't speak english. He was trying to tell me something, but i didn't know what it was. Then, one of the players who did speak english told me that he was asking me to go in at forward. I don't ever really play forward, but i did. Defense is my main position. The game was intense and fun even though i couldn't speak spanish to any of them. I saw Raffy Dipurto playing on the other team. We ended up tying 2-2. I had one assist. I also got fouled in their penalty box for us to take and score a PK.
